Perfecto Mobile Extends its Continuous Quality Lab to Include Calabash Integration

Company’s continuous quality lab integrates smoothly with Calabash to deliver better apps faster

BEVERLY, MA and WOBURN, MA – Perfecto Mobile, the world’s leader in mobile app quality, today announced a new integration with Calabash, enabling users to automate testing and implement continuous quality. This integration helps developers using Calabash to increase release velocity while improving overall mobile app quality by executing automated tests within Perfecto Mobile’s Continuous Quality Lab.

In the last year, Perfecto Mobile has seen increased interest in the Calabash test automation framework. Development teams are drawn to Calabash for its Behavior Driven Development (BDD) support that allows teams to express tests cases in a simple English syntax and later transform them into the Ruby programming language for execution. As test development begins in parallel with app development, quality assurance can begin on day one. Perfecto Mobile’s support for Calabash testing reinforces its commitment for open source test automation executed on real devices.

"As companies look to shift more quality related activities left, they are using open source solutions such as Calabash to automate and accelerate mobile app development as a method to increase release velocity and improve quality," said Roi Carmel, SVP Product and Strategy, Perfecto Mobile. "By incorporating more quality-related activities earlier in the development lifecycle using Calabash and Perfecto Mobile’s Continuous Quality Lab, Dev/Test teams can obtain faster feedback. They can reuse preexisting knowledge of Calabash to test mobile apps and ultimately deliver better apps faster."

This latest integration with Perfecto Mobile’s Continuous Quality Lab is another step to achieving continuous quality earlier in the mobile application development lifecycle and acts as an additional step in supporting mobile testing in leading open source environments. Historically, testing Calabash has been used through an emulator or devices that are connected locally and running Android and iOS apps, which brings a host of challenges to the Dev/Test team who manages this connection on top of the project. With the Continuous Quality Lab, users can integrate into any automation test tool and get access to mobile devices via the cloud.

About Perfecto Mobile’s Continuous Quality Lab

Developers and Dev/Test teams have a wide range of test automation frameworks and tools to choose from, adding an extra layer of complexity to the already time sensitive projects they are working on. With Perfecto Mobile’s Continuous Quality Lab, users can now utilize its completely agnostic platform with the freedom to select a test automation framework of their choice. The Lab started with integrations to HP UFT and Selenium and now supports Calabash and will soon include other open source integrations as well.
